My father started his cancer journey with Moffitt in November 2024. December 31 he and my mom were told of the the lung mass he had, “we’re not even sure it’s cancer.” 4 hospital stays later, including 1 at Moffitt, he had lesions on his liver, his lungs, back, glands. He was suffering with pleural effusion, low blood pressure, pneumonia. 2/6/25, 500cc drained from his lungs and he is sent home from Moffitt with an appointment for a week later. Still no official diagnosis. The very next day- weak, short of breath and confused he was admitted to a local hospital where they drained 1500cc’s more from his lungs. Numerous phone calls were made to his doctor at Moffitt - Dr.Pallini. We begged and pleaded to hear from her to know what his cancer plan of care would be, or if one was even available. As my family sat around my father’s hospital bed and had to choose comfort care- still no call. To this day, I still don’t think anyone from Moffitt ever called back. Not even after his mutational analysis finally showed up on his patient portal 10 days after the 2nd biopsy. Mom made a phone call to lodge a complaint and no return phone call for that either. Moffitt’s lackadaisical approach to what turned out to be an aggressive lung cancer may well be a contributing factor to my father’s death and their indifference and apathy made a difficult decision that much harder as we waited for a phone call that never came. Moffitt may have had a good reputation for cancer care, but I am afraid those days are long gone
Very disappointed at the delay in getting appointments and therefore, treatment. I feel the delay greatly contributed to my husband's death. Calls for information went unreturned too. I gave 2 stars only because of the caring staff members who were wonderful
Avoid moffitt at any cost. You’re just a number in a large large pool of patients and won’t get any quality care unless you’re a multi multi millionaire. They run their treatment plans strictly based off statistics and if it kills you before it kills the cancer, they don’t care nor change up the plan.Nearly killed my father (suffering from pancreatic cancer) until we moved him to another specialized stand alone oncologist who actually tailored my father’s treatment to work best with him and beat back the cancer.Seriously, avoid moffitt it’s just a money making machine off cancer patients.
I don’t recommended this place if you have any questions about your treatment. Patient relations Joanna Cross is a helpless person you can call upon for assistance. My husband had a disagreement with one of the nurses and she came in and started shushing him and escalated the issue instead of helping. She is supposed to be a patient advocate instead my husband felt disrespected and unheard. No one should be treated the way he was treated.
Moffitt Urgent Care is the worst place on Earth you can go to get care. The nurses seriously need training on treating people like human beings instead of a bother in their day.I took my husband on Saturday and unfortunately his nurse was Gregory “Greg”. He didn’t want to introduce himself and didn’t want to answer questions. He was so careless, unhelpful and disrespectful.Careless because he dropped the lines on the floor and wanted to connect them to my husband’s port without wiping them. When I asked him to use alcohol wipes and clean the lines, he was very upset on me. He started grabbing the wipes from the drawer angrily and dropped them on the floor from how mad he was.Unhelpful because ambulance guy came to move my husband to Mickenly campus. I asked Greg “the nurse” to disconnect my husband from the machine so he can use the restroom but he refused and asked the ambulance guy to disconnect him.Disrespectful because I told him I have never seen a nurse like you and he told me”I know that I am horrible”.I called the charge nurse who was laughing the whole time and she said you can fill in the survey when you get discharged. She didn’t even talked to him. Please retrain these horrible nurses because patients and their families shouldn’t deal with this kind of stuff. Cancer and its awful experience is enough. Also, the time on the clock was wrong plus no info on the board.
Uncompassionate, inflexible care. Worst hospital and clinic system I have ever had the need of visiting. I have been followed for 30 plus years across the US for my health issues. Moffitt was recommended to me when I moved to Florida. I am now in the process of finding a different cancer center closer to my home because of the issues I’m having here. Look at the recent reviews - many of them are negative for a reason. It’s hard to get appointments here without even simple labs and scans being months out. When you are dealing with cancer, you don’t have that time. Doctor appointments are minimum of five months out. Refusal and inability to schedule multiple appointments for one day so you have to deal with the drive, traffic, and parking nightmare here multiple times a month. Condescending staff who refuse to assist patients with simple requests. There are other places rated better.
Trying to get an initial appointment has been terrible. It has been over a week since they finally approved my ability to get an appt with a certain doctor. But still waiting for scheduling. This is a Cancer Center, right?
Twice I have driven an hour for a procedure, had blood work drawn only to get there, be stated in the eyes and admitted they did not read my allergies therefore could not perform procedure and I should come back at their convenience. I am greatly surprised in consideration of fact I provided allergies and my own records showing issues with drugs they plan to use on me. I got bills and no apology when I was sent elsewhere by Moffit to have done exactly what was planned by FSU. If you are not with a medical malpractice attorney at your side, this is a dangerous situation.I returned to have a biopsy fully sedated. I was very clear to everyone I spoke to that access was to be done from behind the ear. I was informed by one of the staff they planned to go in through my orbital lobe on my face. I had a witness and had e everyone brought to me and explained that there was no consent to access anyway except behind my ear. It was more convenient for them to poke holes in my face than behind my ear. Be your own advocate here, take a witness and ask everyone to explain what they plan to do and how.
Worst experience imaginable. Wish, I never would have stepped thru their door. My advice: stay away from big box cancer centers who treat everybody the same and guess what–not everybody is the same! If I hadn't fired them halfway thru my chemo I believe I would be dead from their treatment. I also now have major neuropathy because even though my oncologist prescribed ice therapy, I had to fight with my nurses at every infusion to actually do it and I don't believe it was done properly. And when I had to get my blood drawn they made me purchase cream to use to numb the area and other cancer centers have a spray that they use. They don't care about you. Find an independent doctor for better care.
Fabulous doctors but when you get here, you will be stressed on trying to figure out where to park. If you decide to go down to the cafeteria, you’ll be more stressed cause there’s no one in there to answer any questions and they simply just hand you tickets and don’t wanna be bothered. What happened to Moffit? Terrible experience, service folks are not friendly, blood draw not pleasant either. They just don’t care, it’s just a job to them

Moffit has been fine through my breast cancer journey. Dr Hoover is an amazing doctor. Dr Dayicioglu did a great job on my reconstruction, although she explains things terribly and does not talk much about options and has a poor bedside manner. I do believe she is a great surgeon. I also didn't like that she has many residents and they all have different answers for the same questions. My biggest complaint is that I went in for my 6 month breast check and there was a couple of spots that we were both sure were fatty tissue, and my after insurance cost was $1,700. I was in the office for the visit and ultrasound a total of about an hour. The ultrasound technician spent 10 minutes with me. My dr who was a nurse practiser spent 10 minutes with me and then another 5. And I now have to pay $1,700. It is unreal to me. I have had many ultrasounds and it wasn't close to this price at baycare or tower imaging. They billed over $2,000 for each breast ultrasound before insurance. Moffit may be good, but that seems insane to me. Also Moffit made over $100,000 on me last year and couldn't give a little break on my 1 hour long 6 month check up when I call. So sad.
There are a lot of reviews with patients being traumatized by Moffitt’s carelessness, there needs to be a state inquiry by the licensing board…these traumatizing incidents are being ignored! Contact the state medical board, contact the accreditation board for the hospital if you have had a traumatic experience with Moffitt. Patients shouldn’t feel intimidated, scared, or have their underlying mental health diagnoses triggered by medical professionals who don’t know what trauma informed care is… cancer is scary enough. The patient care office is a shame that’s protecting the hospital and will intimidate you to lessen the hospitals liability. Don’t stand for this treatment act! Demand accountability, demand patients rights be clearly posted, and demand one check in process. Moffitt has staff with multiple complaints demand the hospital remove them! Demand the care you need to help you through a traumatic time. Be well and be safe.Radiology is not being held accountable for the mistakes they are making. They informed my wife I had another tumor when in fact they got me mixed up with another patient, and that was after they didn’t check me in for my MRI! I got to the hospital at 9:30am and didn’t leave until after 7:00 pm! Now I’m being made to go to an imagining center off campus because the staff can’t do their jobs and administration is no help. I’ve had enough of Moffitt! I’m not the only patient who thinks Moffitt has nasty disrespectful nurses, technicians, and Doctors! Read all the feed back that others have left. I want my money back! I want my mental health restored! I want the people I’ve complained about fired! I want the people who lost my car for two hours fired! I’m terrified to set foot in Moffitt ever again! This place has done permanent damage to my mental health. Beware! The more you complain about their behavior they make it even harder the next time. As long as you keep your mouth shut and let them do whatever they want you might be okay. This place has violated my patient rights to proper treatment.
I chose Moffitt due to its proximity to my home. The surgeon was good and I liked his bedside manner but after surgery things really soured. The nursing staff at the hospital were mostly in their early 20’s. I was not offered any sort of way to clean myself during my 4 days there. I smelled like a homeless person when I left. After I left the hospital the care got even worse. I was only allowed to talk to a nurse who constantly ignored my concerns. I wanted a work up of my nutrients (also recommended by their nutritionist) since I had severe joint pain in my hand and feet and was anemic. She said it wasn’t necessary. I wanted to meet with a nephrologist since I only had one kidney and she said that wasn’t necessary. She called to read my path results 4 weeks after my surgery. I asked her a question about the results and she told me to Google it. Then said I was too anxious about everything (stage 3 renal cell carcinoma with spots on my lung), so yeah. There is NO way this place is number 10 in the US… someone paid to have that ranking.I’m sure I will get a message back on here from Moffitt acting concerned and for me to contact them. It’s all for show! My name is on here… if you want more info you should call me!
Very poor experience. From reception area to the doctor's nurse, to the doctor, the reception was so chilly i was expecting it to snow. So, i tried to do my thing to warm up the atmosphere. Nothing, nada. They should have been the ones to extend themselves to us.We were there for about 2 hrs total in their Head and Neck dept and, i kid you not, not even one smile extended to us, but that is not the worst of it, from the reception area to the doctor, we were treated like a number and a bother. It was an uncomfortable experience and who wants to deal with staff and doctor who doesn't get it.People are going through personal trauma, a good deal of that is also the mental aspect of it. No one needs awful service at a time like this. This isn't about you. Get over yourselves because people are suffering. The staff, all of them, seriously need training on treating people like human beings instead of a bother in their day.Because it extended from beginning to end, thinking management needs the training too because i have found staff can be a reflection of management. Do us all a favor and get over yourselves because people need help. I hope we don't have to return. I personally don't plan on it.I should have known better because i did read the reviews prior and it made me hesitate, but i went and also had a bad experience. Mom yelled at doctor at the end. She had enough. You can have skilled physicians, but if the service is poor, you'll lose patients because no one having to deal with such a difficult situation needs that. Makes matters worse.I will say there were two exceptions. The gal that checked us in, and the nurse or aid that took vitals were decent. No smile still or extend themselves, but at least they didn't treat us poorly. Got the sense they were in training. Hope they don't ruin them. There was also errors committed with who to send the visit notes to. It was to go to the primary physician, not a specialist we didn't care to have itThat was our experience. I'm going to be praying for moffit as people are suffering and they need help. The staff needs a servant's heart and compassion for others. I hope and pray if you go there your experience is better and you are treated with dignity and compassion to help you through this difficult season in your life.
There are so many choices when it comes to cancer care. It's not worth being stuck with a doctor that you don't trust or that you argue with or that you simply don't feel has your back. It's also good to know when to move on 😊I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer last year. I had a very smart doctor, but he has no bedside manner. When I first met him he was yelling at a nurse because she was running a few minutes behind 👀 I decided life is too short to not have a better doctor. So, I called Moffitt and asked to switch doctors...It took the patient services department at Moffitt, over 3 months and 5 phone calls from me before I finally was informed that there is a new rule (this 'new rule' is just in my specific cancer's dept, BTW!) that you're stuck with your doctor for life! You can never switch, per Dr. Tinilla. This was not in any of my new patient paperwork.Although the HR lady was willing to violate my HIPAA privacy and come to my appointment with me, I said, no, that wouldn't be an option for me.I'm wondering if this doctor had other complaints and they were trying to keep customer retention? I will never know, because I'm moving on! Like I said, life is just too short to have a bad doctor!

I have been treating my cancer at Moffitt Cancer Center for a bit over 5 years now. My doctor and his team are very kind and professional, and the USF facility is also such a nice and clean place. I am so thankful for my doctor and his team at the Moffitt Cancer Center here in Tampa, Florida.
I hate to see so many flock to a place for its "good name". They do hire some-just some-good doctors. My radiation oncologist was great--Dr. Timothy Robinson--but he left for Yale. Nurses were often disrespectful; nurses do make a difference: Clinics who start to profit off there name always cut costs somewhere. Got one dose-one day-of radiation therapy for 4 remaining brain tumors and they charged my insurance 100k; "good names" also ensure less can afford healthcare. Constant disregard for HIPAA; contacts my emergency contact for non-emergencies.
I will still give it 5 stars. Because most of the time all the doctors and nurses and staff are usually amazing. But you always come across 1. Seems like there’s always that 1 on every shift. I’ve been coming here for over a year and already had one surgery and many more to come. But the ones who seem to lack the compassion to deal with individuals that are literally dying. And are rude and aggressive should be singled out and forced to take additional training. Especially when your working in this type of environment.
I only know this place from taking my dad. There’s valet parking. A Starbucks occupies one end of the main lobby along with a quiet section off to the left as you enter. The space is open and airy. The staff I’ve met are very professional. It’s seems to be a very nice hospital that I hope you never have to visit.
Best cancer center from A-Z! We have never dealt with a better facility. From the moment we walked in... they literally walked us to our appointment location. Every nurse... every doctor... every... worker (even in cafeteria) was absolutely caring and helpful. For the first time in 4 years of cancer ... throughout 2 states of cancer care centers & hospitals... we finally felt heard, cared for and like a real person with a real team who want to help.So many other places unfortunately make u feel like a "number" or a "case". This place made me feel like I matter and that they wanted to help.Very thankful!
Since we moved to FL, we came here for prostate cancer active surveillance. Unfortunately, after the very first appointment, we have not been able to talk to a doctor again. Nurses gave us a screening ultimatum that seemed to conflict with what the doctor said in our first appointment. Upon requesting to discuss this with a doctor, the nurses block access to one. Is a doctor even handling our case? What is the point of going to an academic research facility if the people making decisions are not the doctor? We are very distressed about this and reconsidering whether Moffitt is right for us. Additionally, I understand the doctor can be busy. But when we asked for a second opinion from Dr. Eggener at University of Chicago (super busy, very big name in prostate cancer treatment), we were amazed to get access to him the same day we sent an email. If he can make time for us, the doctor at Moffitt can too.UPDATE: In addition to the above, this place is now holding BPH medication hostage. A compassionate reply would be to tell us they will refill it one last time and to go somewhere else next time. Instead, they put us in an emergency situation to find another provider ASAP. What kind of "hospital" bullies patients who have questions by denying unrelated essential medication, and then also refuses an appointment with a doctor to discuss our questions or concerns? We have been through poor treatment before, but this is the worst of the worst.
The people and the facilities are the best. They offer free valet along with self parking. The people are friendly and caring. You do have to check in for each individual appointment instead of just once. The Drs will override scheduling when needed to make sure you get the immediate care that is needed. Due to the immediate care they provided my sister, I believe they saved her life.
I am also in awe of the staff at this location tending to my daughter. From the security, greeters, valet parking attendant to the nurses and physicians, I couldn't be more impressed with their helpful and caring ways. This facility has everything within walking distance that my daughters needs, even a pharmacy on hand. God brought us to Moffit and I can certainly see why. My prayers go out to all who work at this facility and especially those who are needing care.
Everybody is great and upbeat. Just minor delays in getting documents to VA for approval of schedule appointments. Other than that everything is great. I just have to be more proactive about my appointments between Muffet and the VA. They're the best. God bless them. Dr. Fleming and his team are easy to talk with and very informative and answer all my questions and concerns and put me at ease.
My husband has met with 2 physicians at Moffitt regarding possible return of Prostate Cancer. The physicians were each very good and up-To-date on his case. Be ready to wait as these are busy doctors. Very efficient in follow up. Recommend Valet parking. On our first visit attempting to self park ALL spaces were either valet or fir employees with a $75 fine. We had to park in employee spot. We mentioned to employee and they said not to worry about it. Next visit we Valet parked- less stress.
